Storage Space
A key element of Coscine is access for researchers to storage space on the Research Data Storage (RDS) and, from the end of 2024, on DataStorage.nrw. RWTH Aachen University is the consortium leader of the RDS and DataStorage.nrw consortium, which consists of RWTH Aachen University, FH Aachen, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University, the University of Duisburg-Essen, the University of Cologne and, in future, the University of Paderborn. The goal of the consortium is to support the RDM at the locations with scaling storage. To this end, a joint, distributed object storage system for central applications was procured and put into operation with funding from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MKW: 214-4.06.05.08-139057 and 214-76.01.09-7-7937) and the German Research Foundation (DFG: INST222/1261-1 and INST 222/1530-1).
