The new API version APIv2 in Coscine is coming! Our Coscine developers have been working hard on it during the last weeks, testing the functionality on internal test servers and making necessary technical adjustments. Our tests were positive regarding stability, as already all endpoints are running stable and only small changes are still open. The APIv2 is more consistent and more versatile, and in our tests it also performs significantly better.
The APIv2 will probably go live at the beginning of October with the regular Coscine update, which usually takes place every two weeks on Tuesdays. Since next week Tuesday, October 3, is a holiday, the new API version will probably go live on Wednesday. After that, both API versions will run side by side for 6 weeks, so that a smooth transition can be made by API users in Coscine. On November 16, 2023 the old API version will be removed. To enable a smooth transition, we have added a page on the Coscine documentation called APIv2. For each EndPoint of the new API version, for example Metadata Profile Controller or Blob Controller, an issue has already been created in GitLab. On the documentation website you can find the corresponding links to all created issues and further information.
We would therefore like to thank you in advance for contributing to the improvement of the platform as Coscine users!
